Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: AEIS), a global leader in precision power conversion and control technologies, has expanded its CF-rated medical power supply portfolio with the release of the NCF660 series. Designed specifically for applications involving direct cardiac or bloodstream contact, the NCF660 delivers robust safety, performance, and design flexibility - helping medical device manufacturers bring critical systems to market faster.
The NCF660 series is part of Advanced Energy’s NCF family of convection-cooled power supplies, all engineered to meet the strict requirements of CF (Cardiac Floating) classification—the highest level of electrical safety for medical equipment. These off-the-shelf power solutions feature leakage currents below 10 microamps and meet demanding isolation standards, offering a safer and faster alternative to custom-developed solutions.
“The nature of CF-rated medical systems, which come into direct contact with the heart, has relied upon custom-developed power supplies and a lengthy certification process. Advanced Energy introduces these pre-qualified supplies as a standard product, with the aim to simplify design of these critical medical systems while ensuring high levels of patient protection,” said Emdrem Tan, Executive Vice President, System Power at Advanced Energy.
By using the pre-certified NCF660, which complies with IEC 60601-1 medical safety standards, engineers can reduce non-recurring engineering (NRE) costs and significantly shorten development time. Built-in power surge protection, enhanced thermal management, and EMI shielding further streamline integration - reducing system size, weight, and bill of materials.
