Delta MEP-500A Series - 500 W Medical Power Supply Now Available in Enclosed and Top Fan Configurations

More Integration Options for Compact Medical System Designs

Medical device designers working with high-power applications face a consistent set of constraints: strict safety isolation requirements, limited internal space, thermal management without compromising noise levels, and the need for certified, globally compliant power components.

Delta has expanded its MEP-500A Series medical power supply to address these challenges across a wider range of integration scenarios. Two new configurations join the existing open-frame model - an enclosed version and an enclosed version with integrated top fan - giving system designers three distinct form factors within a single, certified power supply family.

Three Form Factors, One Certified Platform

The MEP-500A Series now covers three mechanical configurations suited to different integration requirements:

  • Open frame - for designs where the host enclosure provides mechanical protection and airflow management
  • CRA (enclosed) - a protective enclosure that reduces the risk of accidental contact with internal components, streamlining system assembly and simplifying integration into end-equipment housings
  • DRA (enclosed with top fan) - delivers the full 500 W output via an integrated low-noise fan, eliminating the need for external cooling arrangements while maintaining quiet operation appropriate for medical environments

The CRA enclosed model measures 3.5" × 5.5" × 1.5" in height, while the DRA with top fan measures 3.5" × 5.5" × 2.3" - both low-profile configurations designed to maximise usable space within compact medical equipment.

  • Output power up to 500 W with fan cooling
  • Output voltage options: 12 V, 18 V, 24 V, and 48 V
  • 5 V / 2 A standby output for auxiliary power requirements
  • Up to 95% efficiency
  • Power density of 25.64 W/inch³ within a 3" × 5" footprint
  • Operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C
  • 4 kV Electrical Fast Transient (EFT) immunity for stable signal processing and consistent image quality in electrically noisy environments
  • Built-in remote on/off and remote sense voltage compensation
  • Precision analogue voltage trimming

Medical Safety Certification

The MEP-500A Series is engineered to meet the safety standards required for medical equipment integration:

  • 2× MOPP isolation for patient and operator protection
  • Type BF classification for body-floating applications
  • Certified to IEC/EN/UL standards across the medical, IT, and household sectors, supporting global market compliance

Target Applications

The combination of compact low-profile dimensions, high power density, low-noise fan options, and medical-grade certification makes the MEP-500A Series well suited for a range of medical system applications, including:

  • Ultrasound imaging systems
  • In vitro diagnostics (IVD) equipment
  • Ventilators and respiratory support systems
  • Operating tables and surgical lighting
  • Medical imaging and signal processing platforms
