Delta PMT2 Series, 600 W Panel Mount Power Supply with 200% Peak Power and Cold Start at -40°C

Higher Power, Smaller Footprint: Extending the PMT2 Series to 600 W

As industrial equipment continues to shrink in physical footprint while the power demands placed on it increase, panel mount power supplies face a clear engineering challenge: deliver more watts in less space, maintain full operational resilience across a wide temperature range, and handle the high inrush currents that motor and actuator startups generate, without oversizing the power supply for the steady-state load.

Delta has extended its PMT2 Series panel mount power supplies with a new 600 W model that addresses all of these requirements simultaneously. Housed in a 1U low-profile enclosure measuring just 225 mm × 124 mm × 41 mm, the PMT-600W delivers 600 W of continuous DC output across four output voltage options, sustains 200% peak power for up to 5 seconds to handle demanding startup loads, and operates across a full -40°C to +70°C temperature range with cold-start capability at -40°C. FORTEC Switzerland offers the Delta PMT2 Series as part of its Delta power supply portfolio.

600 W Continuous and 200% Peak Power for Startup Load Management

Motor drives, robotic actuators, compressors, and other electromechanical loads draw significantly higher current during startup than during steady-state operation. A power supply dimensioned purely for its continuous rating may trigger overcurrent protection at the moment of highest demand, causing faults rather than supporting normal startup.

The PMT-600W’s 200% peak power capability, sustained for up to 5 seconds, provides the reserve needed to absorb these startup demands cleanly. This allows system designers to specify the PMT-600W based on the continuous load requirement while retaining confidence that startup transients are covered without requiring an oversized supply for normal operation.

300 VAC Input Surge Tolerance for Grid-Unstable Environments

In industrial installations where the grid supply is subject to voltage surges, particularly in manufacturing environments with heavy equipment nearby or in locations with unstable power infrastructure, a power supply that cannot tolerate input surges becomes a source of system interruptions rather than system stability.

The PMT-600W withstands input surges up to 300 VAC for up to 5 seconds, maintaining regulated output during transient overvoltage conditions without tripping. This tolerance directly contributes to operational continuity in environments where input power quality cannot be guaranteed.
