Processing Intelligence Where Data Is Generated 

A growing number of industrial applications - machine vision for quality control, intelligent operator interfaces, automated inspection systems - share a fundamental requirement: data must be processed at the point where it originates, quickly and reliably, without routing it through the cloud. At the same time, the hardware that enables this processing must remain compact, energy-efficient, and available over the long term. 

The iBASE IB301 is built for exactly this environment. Based on the AMD Ryzen™ Embedded 8000 Series (Hawk Point) APU, it combines powerful CPU cores with an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) directly on the board. This allows AI workloads to be executed on the embedded system itself, without additional accelerator cards or external processing infrastructure.

Local Processing - Performance, Data Sovereignty, and Efficiency 

Running AI inference locally on the IB301 delivers three practical benefits. First, transmission latency and network traffic are reduced, since data does not need to leave the system for processing. Second, sensitive information stays on site - a meaningful consideration for applications with elevated data protection requirements. Third, the onboard NPU handles dedicated AI workloads in parallel with general-purpose CPU tasks, keeping the processing pipeline efficient without overloading the main cores. 

High computing performance alone is not enough in compact or fanless designs. Power consumption and heat generation must also be compatible with the available enclosure and cooling concept. The IB301 supports flexible power profiles that can be matched to the specific application context. FORTEC Switzerland assists customers in selecting suitable settings and supports the optimisation of power consumption, thermal management, and overall system behaviour - particularly where installation space is constrained and a balanced combination of performance and energy efficiency is required.

Performance Specifications 

The IB301 is available with three AMD Ryzen™ Embedded 8000 Series processor options, covering both high-performance H-series and efficient U-series variants with 6 or 8 cores and a TDP range of 15 W to 54 W depending on configuration. All variants include the integrated RDNA3 graphics engine with up to 6 Work Group Processors. 

Memory and storage are well provisioned for edge AI workloads: two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots support up to 128 GB per module (256 GB total) at 5,600 MT/s, and an M.2 M-Key 2280 slot provides PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe storage connectivity.

Display and Network Connectivity 

The IB301 provides flexibility for both established and next-generation display technologies. A choice of eDP 1.5 or LVDS output covers the integration of existing display generations, while DisplayPort 2.1 (up to 8K at 60 Hz) and HDMI 2.1 (up to 4K at 120 Hz) support the development of new product lines and the gradual transition to current display standards. Up to three independent display outputs can be connected simultaneously. 

For data-intensive and connected applications, two Intel® I226-V 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports deliver fast and stable network connectivity. An M.2 B-Key 3052 slot with Nano SIM support accommodates 5G and LTE modules, while an M.2 E-Key 2230 slot covers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth expansion.

Industrial I/O for Broad Integration 

The IB301 is equipped with a comprehensive interface set suited to both legacy and modern peripheral integration: 

  • 4× COM ports: 2× RS232/422/485 (configurable) and 2× RS232 
  • 2× USB 3.2 Gen2 (10 Gbps) and 4× USB 2.0 
  • Digital I/O (4 inputs and 4 outputs) 
  • Realtek HD audio (line-in, line-out, microphone) 
  • AMI BIOS with 256-level watchdog timer and hardware monitor 
  • fTPM as default; optional dTPM (SLB9672) 
  • DC power input: +12 V to +24 V 

Operating temperature range spans 0 °C to 60 °C, with storage from -20 °C to 80 °C. Board dimensions are 147 mm × 102 mm (5.7" × 4").
