Inission Power HDP1200 Series – 1200 W GaN-Based AC/DC Power Supply Now Available

GaN Technology Brings a New Efficiency Benchmark to High-Power System Design

For designers working on medical equipment, professional AV and IT infrastructure, industrial automation, and LED lighting systems, the challenge of delivering high output power in a compact 1U-compatible enclosure has long involved a trade-off: more power means more heat, and more heat means more space consumed by thermal management.

Gallium Nitride (GaN) power conversion technology changes this equation. Compared to conventional silicon-based designs, GaN semiconductors switch faster, generate fewer losses across the conversion process, and enable significantly higher efficiency at high power levels - all of which translates directly into a smaller, cooler, and more reliable end product.

The Inission Power HDP1200 series brings GaN-based power conversion to a 1200 W AC/DC power supply in an enclosed, built-in-fan package measuring 4.2" × 8.1" × 1.6" – compact enough for 1U rack integration while meeting both medical and audio/video IT safety standards.

1200 W at up to 95.5% Efficiency

The HDP1200 delivers its full 1200 W rated output across the 180–305 V AC input range, with 24 V DC and 48 V DC as standard output voltages. A +5 V / 1.5 A standby output provides auxiliary supply for system control functions.

Key electrical characteristics include: Output power:

  • 1200 W rated, with forced-air cooling
  • Standard output voltages: 24 V DC and 48 V DC
  • +5 V / 1.5 A standby output
  • Efficiency: 94.5–95.5% typical across both models
  • Universal AC input range: 90–305 V AC
  • Active GaN-based PFC compliant with EN 61000-3-2 (Class C above 150 W)
  • Operating temperature range: -20 °C to +70 °C
  • Altitude operation: up to 4,000 m for medical-certified configurations

System Integration Features

The HDP1200 is designed with practical system integration in mind. A built-in current share circuit enables parallel operation between multiple units, allowing total system power to be scaled beyond 1200 W by combining units without additional external current balancing hardware. Control signals include Power Good (P_OK), Remote On/Off (PS_Inhibit), and Remote Sense terminals (RS+, RS-) for system-level power management and output voltage compensation.

Fan speed is digitally controlled to deliver the minimum airflow required for the current thermal load, reducing audible noise during lighter-load operation and extending the service lifetime of the cooling system.

Dual Safety Certification - Medical and AV/IT

The HDP1200 holds dual safety certification covering both medical and audio/video IT applications from a single platform:

  • IEC 60601-1 3rd edition for medical electrical equipment, with 2× MoPP and BF appliance compatibility
  • IEC 60601-1-2 4th edition EMC compliance for medical environments
  • IEC/UL 62368-1 for audio/video and IT equipment
  • Designed for compliance with UL 8750 for LED lighting applications
  • EN 55032 Class B for conducted and radiated emissions
  • IEC/EN 61000-3 for flicker and harmonic content
  • IEC/EN 61000-6-2 and EN 55035 immunity standards
  • RoHS 3 compliant (EU Directive 2015/863)
  • CE marked, UL Recognition, CB Certificate
  • 5-year manufacturer warranty
