PANASYS NMLCD-686M0 - 6.86-Inch Vertical Bar TFT Display Module for Industrial and Smart Equipment
Compact Vertical Display Integration for Narrow-Screen Applications
Vertical bar displays are becoming an increasingly common requirement across industrial control panels, smart home interfaces, vending machines, automotive secondary screens, and IoT terminals. The challenge for equipment designers is finding a display solution that fits the narrow vertical format without compromising on optical quality, EMC robustness, or integration complexity.
PANASYS has developed the NMLCD-686M0 specifically for these applications: a 6.86-inch vertical strip TFT module that integrates the display panel, backlight, and signal connector into a single compact unit - with a total thickness of only 5.5 mm.
6.86-Inch IPS Panel with 480×1280 Native Vertical Resolution
The NMLCD-686M0 uses an all-direction IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel with a native resolution of 480×1280 pixels in portrait orientation. The transmissive normally black IPS panel provides consistent image quality across all viewing angles - an important characteristic for displays mounted at varying heights or viewed from different positions in public or semi-public installations such as vending machines and smart terminals.
The built-in LED backlight circuit is designed for stable long-term light output with uniform brightness, supporting the continuous operation requirements of unmanned or lightly supervised equipment.
5.5 mm Total Thickness for Space-Constrained Enclosures
At only 5.5 mm overall depth, the NMLCD-686M0 is designed to maximise usable internal space within narrow vertical equipment enclosures. This ultra-slim profile makes it well suited for applications where the display must fit within a tight mechanical envelope while still delivering a full-format visual output.
Standard LVDS Interface with Single Connector Integration
The module uses a standard LVDS signal interface with a mature, well-defined pin layout (WP7-P030VA1 compatible). All necessary signals – power, differential data, clock, and backlight control – are integrated on a single connector. This single-connector architecture reduces wiring complexity during assembly, minimises the risk of connection errors in mass production, and simplifies the harness layout within the host product.
Industrial EMC and Mechanical Robustness
The NMLCD-686M0 incorporates reserved EMI shielding tape and grounding provisions, providing resistance to electromagnetic interference in industrial environments without requiring additional EMC modification work by the equipment manufacturer. The cover glass passes strict anti-drop and scratch testing, and the module structure is validated for long-duration continuous operation in unmanned smart equipment.
Full reliability testing has been completed, including high and low temperature storage, thermal cycling, vibration, and mechanical shock - confirming suitability for industrial operating conditions.
Simplified Integration Compared to Split Vertical Screen Designs
Traditional vertical display implementations often combine separate panel, backlight, and connector elements – increasing mechanical complexity and wiring effort. By integrating all three into a single standardised module with fixed outline dimensions, the NMLCD-686M0 simplifies structural design, supports universal mounting, and enables rapid batch assembly. The standardised form factor also simplifies after-sales replacement and reduces service complexity across deployed systems.
Customisation and Availability
The NMLCD-686M0 is available from stock and meets RoHS environmental criteria. Customised adjustments to backlight brightness, connector pin definition, and structural tape layout are accepted for volume projects.
